The making of a selfmade woman

We asked our selfmade women a few questions on what constitutes them as human beings. In this post we share with you the answers of Manca Jevscek.

How do you count time?

I really do not want to count time, counting time to me means you are bored or anxious.

Best times are usually spent not realising how much time has passed.

Being immersed into something and forgetting time passing, is one of the best times and also most important times in your life.
If something captures your focus so intensely you can bet it sings with your heart.

What defines you?

Have no idea, water and DNA, I guess?

How do you spend your time when nobody's looking?

Couch potato style with my cats.

Everybody falls sometimes. And then?

I tend to overanalyse, but on the bright side, consequently learn from mistakes. No other thing to do then keep going, new plans, new goals, new bucket lists, new wishes. Bjork describes this well in Desired Constellation.

 By the seasons; Fall/Winter & Spring/Summer :

 Moments when I'm really present.

Moments when I realise how grateful I am to be   surrounded by people I admire & love most.

What defines you?

Mindset.

Nobody's reading as well 😈

Everybody falls sometimes. And then?

Like leaves from the tree creating fertile ground for a new birth. It's a cycle you have to get used to ○

Dancing through life

When you are a dancer, dancing is not a hobby and not a job. It is simply a way of living. That could be noticed in the details of our selfmade women's Maša Kagao Knez and Urša Rupnik's behaviours. Even if a little nervous and unsure at first, they only needed to look at each other to burst into laughter.

It was obvious in the moments of child-like sincerity and trying everything that comes to mind when first seeing a swing. They weren't limited to the close-minded ideas of what is "appropriate" for an adult.

While Urša was being photographed, Maša started rehearsing her coreography, casually implementing dance in the otherwise "serious" office enviornment.

They brought a fresh wave of simplicity and creativity. They brought dance as a background to everything they do.

They made us ask ourselves: How do we dance when nobody's watching?

How do you?

Behind the scenes of our new swings

We are proud to be working with wonderful manufacturers with whom we were able to create the new version of Ding Dong.

The design was well thought out but yet the many possibilities of oiled wood surprised us.

The young creative minds

A collaboration with NTF

Where are good ideas born?

An idea by definition is something new. And where better to look for something new than in the minds of people whose minds are still fresh and always buzzing; the students of textile design at NTF (Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering). We started right ahead, after an inspiring presentation on the history of handbags by the group's mentor Petja Zorec.

So we huffed ...

… and we puffed …

... and the young minds buzzed ...

… and came up with something EXTRAORDINARY …

Out of all of these new and exciting ideas, we can truly say that it was hard to pick one. But at the end a choice had to be made and that's how we got our winning design by Lara Banovac and Anita Miklavcic.

Their design was simple,

and made by two wonderfully creative young minds.

Although the students learned about sustainable design and recycled materials, we were also the ones to learn about their new creative ideas.

Which design was your favorite? Tell us in the comments.
